Muskegon is located on the shores of Lake Michigan in the county of the same name. Situated on Muskegon Lake, which is really the mouth of the Muskegon River, this area was aptly named by French explorers in the late 1600's from the Indian word: Masquignon, meaning: "marshy river." Muskegon offers 27 miles of white sandy beaches. In fact, Muskegon's Pere Marquette Park has been cited as one of the 49 Cleanest Beaches in America, as reported by USA Today. Muskegon has four State and six County parks which offer a multitude of outdoor recreational activities and breathtaking scenery. Muskegon also has a unique indoor downtown mall that features some old turn-of-the-century style buildings carefully preserved from yesteryear. There is always plenty to see and do in Muskegon and it is worth the visit!


Whitehall is located in northern Muskegon County about five miles from the Lake Michigan coastline, is named for its location at the end of beautiful White Lake, actually the mouth of the White River at Lake Michigan. It is a commuter town to the greater Muskegon area just 10 miles to the south. Much of its economy is tourist-related, especially its extended marina on the lake. If you're looking for outdoor recreational opportunities, a relaxing few days on the beach, golf, or some shopping Whitehall has it. Swim, sail, canoe or fish on our beautiful lakes. Whitehall is also the home to the White River Lighthouse, the world's largest weathervane and more.

Montague, Michigan is located in the north side of beautiful White Lake in northern Muskegon County. This picturesque city is situated on a hill overlooking the marina, White River Channel, and its sister city, Whitehall, just across the lake. Montague’s economy is supported by a combination of factors, including tourism, some local manufacturing and its location as a commuter city to Muskegon. Recreational enthusiasts will find a wide range of outdoor activities to enjoy in the White Lake area. Sailor's, power boaters and fishing vessels will find a fresh water adventure on Lake Michigan. There are nine area marines with over 800 boat slips. Tubing, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, and kayaking are some other great water sports you can experiences in this beautiful area.
